This might be the case with 9-time ARCA RE/MAX Series champion Frank Kimmel. The defending series champion went 14 races this year before posting his first win in his own Kimmel Racing Ford. Kimmel's first win came two weeks ago on the clay track at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. The veteran racer followed that up with yet another win on clay. This time, it was a victory at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds on Labor Day. Kimmel dominated the race leading 96 of 102 race laps en route to the win.

Forty-one cars were on hand at the 1-mile clay oval in southern Illinois. Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. set a new record in qualifying circling the track in 32.896 seconds (109.436 mph). The time broke the previous record (33.273) set by Brian Tyler in 2006. Frank Kimmel was second in qualifying with a time of 33.223 seconds (108.359 mph).

The race was dominated by Kimmel who led 96 of the 102 race laps. The only other drivers to lead during the event were Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. (lap #1) and James Buescher (laps 26-30).

The race was slowed by five cautions for a total of 25 laps.

Kimmel won by .310 seconds over Patrick Sheltra who started ninth. Last year's race winner, Kenny Schrader, finished in third place followed by Dexter Bean and Ricky Stenhouse, Jr.

Matt Carter finished in sixth followed by Kelly Kovski, Scott Speed, James Buescher and Bryan Silas in seventh through tenth, respectively.

Scott Speed's lead in the ARCA RE/MAX Series driver standings drops to 75 points over Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. Matt Carter is in third place (3795), while Frank Kimmel moves up to fourth place (3705). Justin Allgaier commands the fifth spot in the rankings with 3650 points.

After two races on bias-ply tires, the ARCA RE/MAX Series returns to racing on radial tires this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. The series will be in action this Saturday, September 6, at the 1.5-mile paved oval.

The ARCA RE/MAX Series competes exclusively on Hoosier racing tires and all events are serviced by Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. located in Lakeville, IN.
