#25 Scott Lagasse makes the race-winning pass on Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. (Photo courtesy of www.arcaracing.com) JOLIET, IL (September 6, 2008) -- Scott Lagasse, Jr. (#25) passed Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. (#99) after a late-race caution and held off both Stenhouse and Scott Speed in a final two-lap sprint to the finish to win the Chicagoland ARCA 200. The 27-year-old driver pitted several times for some major adjustments to tighten up his car before motoring his way to the front en route to the win. It was Lagasse's second career win in the ARCA RE/MAX Series.

Forty-three cars were entered for Saturday's race with 41 cars posting times in qualifying. Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. set a new track record in qualifying when he circled the 1.5-mile track in 29.995 seconds (180.030 mph). It was the eighth track record set in 17 events contested this year in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. 

The 136-lap race had nine leaders among three different drivers. Leaders included; Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. 1-17, 36-49, 82-113, 118-121 (67 laps), Scott Speed 18-35, 50-81, 114 (51 laps) and Scott Lagasse 115-117, 122-136 (18 laps). 

A late-race caution set up a final two-lap sprint to the finish with Lagasse taking the win by .308 seconds over Ricky Stenhouse, Jr.

Scott Speed finished in third after leading 51 laps. Speed was followed by Justin Allgaier and Jesse Smith in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Bryan Silas, after starting 28th and going a lap down early, fought back to finish sixth followed by Ben Stancill, Justin Lofton, Jeremy Clements and Ken Butler III to round out the list of top ten finishers. 

The race was also slowed six times for cautions for a total of 43 laps. 

As the series enters the final four events of the 2008 season, Scott Speed's lead  (4125) in the driver standings is now just 50 points over Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. (4075). Matt Carter is in third place with 3965 points followed by Frank Kimmel (3880) and Justin Allgaier (3860).

The ARCA RE/MAX Series travels from Chicagoland's 1.5-mile superspeedway to Salem (IN) Speedway's .555-mile short track this weekend for the Eddie Gilstrap Motors 200. The race is scheduled for Saturday night, September 13th.
