Lakeville, IN (September 23, 2008) – National Auto
Sport Association Championships presented by Toyo Tires held Friday September
12 – Sunday, September 14, 2008 at the beautiful Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course,
Lexington, Ohio. Over four hundred of the Series’ best amateur road racers
who have earned the right to compete in the NASA Championships competed for
over $1,000,000 in contingency sponsorship. Ten race groups comprised of
forty-one NASA classes determining National Champions in “winner-take-all”
sprint race formats. Each race had a time limit of forty minutes on the
beautiful, but this day windy, 2.25-mile, 13-turn permanent road course.
A little about the National Auto Sport Association (NASA), NASA was formed
in 1991 to deliver high quality motorsports events to enthusiast at major
racing venues. NASA has created programs that allow owners of both racecars and
high-performance street-driven vehicles to enjoy the full performance
capabilities of their cars in a safe and controlled environment. Competition
Racing, wheel to wheel racing, of almost any type of vehicle ranging from
Production Sedans, Stock Cars, and Formula Cars.
Classes and a brief description of each class, along with results:
American Iron, American Iron Extreme (AI, AIX): This is a classic battle of
muscle machines. The premise is simple: choose an American-made sedan and start
modifying it.

Honda Challenge (HC): (All Spec Toyo Series) There are five classes within
this series (HC1, HC2, HC3, HC4 and HC5) that cover a wide range of models and
a broad spectrum of modifications. This series is well suited for Honda
enthusiasts that want to modify their favorite Honda or Acura model.

Legends: These are 5/8-scale fiberglass full-fendered versions of the famed
NASCAR modifieds that were run in the 40’s and 50’s. All cars are produced
by 600 Racing and are identical in almost every way.
German Touring Series (GTS): GTS pits German sedans from BMW, Porsche,
Mercedes, Audi and Volkswagen against each other in a “gentleman racer”
format.

Performance Touring (PT): Performance Touring is a unique series that
classifies over 600 makes and models of cars into one of eight classes. Once

Time Trials: NASA TT uses a car classification system that is easy to
understand and gives advanced HPDE drivers a taste of competition by allowing
them to compete for top lap times in open passing run sessions against
similarly prepared cars.

Super Touring (ST): Super Touring is an extension of the Performance Touring
series, catering to more powerful and exotic cars. ST uses power-to-weight
formulas along with additional factors to class cars in one of two classes, ST1
or ST2. ST encourages nearly unlimited builds within the power-to-weight
confines to provide tuners and racers to showcase for their talent and
imagination.

The weekend racing got underway with practice on Thursday, and then right
into qualifying races on Friday and Saturday.
Final racing results puts Hoosier Racing Tire on top with Fifty-one podiums,
sixteen being first place, nineteen second places and sixteen being third
place. As many podiums as all other race tire companies combined, including the
fact Toyo having ten Spec classes, Hoosier will take these weekend ventures as
a good undertaking.
