Tire Recommendations for WoO Late Model and UMP Modified Bristol Bash

Tire Recommendations for WoO Late Model and UMP Modified Bristol Bash

Based on our recent experiences at the Bristol Motor Speedway Dirt Track, we felt it was still extremely important to get the following tire guidelines posted for the upcoming Bristol Bash event.

The length, size, and speed of this track will be very demanding on the tires. We would encourage you to follow these recommendations closely. If you have any specific questions, please contact the Hoosier Representatives at the track.

Late Model Recommendation – It is extremely important to reduce dynamic right front camber for the Bristol Dirt Nationals in order to equalize tire heat and wear across the full contact patch. We would also recommend utilizing heat relief measures such as grooved notches or shallow drill holes in the tread blocks to reduce heat without affecting block integrity on all compounds.  Heat cycling, reducing the number of sipes, and shallowing the depths of grooves in the tread area are all recommended to increase tire durability, even on harder compound tires. Maintaining block integrity is key to tire life at Bristol.

Modified Recommendation – We would strongly recommend single direction and shallow depth siping only at this event as this dramatically reduced tire temperatures and instances of tread chunking in previous events. It is also important with modifieds to verify your right front camber for the Bristol Dirt Nationals in order to equalize tire heat across the full contact patch
